Extraction & Wisdom Teeth Removal

Tooth Extraction and Wisdom Teeth Removal in Silverdale

Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved, or a wisdom tooth causes pain, infection or crowding. At Dazzle Family Dental in Silverdale, we offer simple and surgical extractions and wisdom teeth removal, with oral and IV sedation available to keep you comfortable.

Why might a tooth need to come out?

  • Severe decay or a tooth that is badly broken
  • Infection that cannot be treated with root canal treatment
  • Advanced gum disease that has loosened the tooth
  • Crowding, for example before orthodontic treatment
  • Wisdom teeth that are impacted or causing problems

About wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth are the third molars at the very back of your mouth. They usually come through in the late teens or early twenties. Because there is often not enough room, they can grow at an angle or only partly come through – this is called being impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause:

  • Pain and swelling at the back of the mouth
  • Gum infections around the tooth
  • Food trapping and decay in nearby teeth
  • Pressure or crowding

What to expect

  1. Assessment – we examine the tooth and take x-rays to plan the safest approach.
  2. Your plan – we explain whether a simple or surgical extraction is needed, your sedation options and the cost.
  3. Treatment – the area is numbed with local anaesthetic, and sedation can help you feel relaxed.
  4. Aftercare – we give you clear instructions to help you heal comfortably.

Comfortable treatment with sedation

If you feel anxious, or need several teeth or wisdom teeth removed, oral or IV sedation can make the experience much easier. Find out more about sedation.

Replacing a missing tooth

If you have a tooth removed from a visible area, we can talk about replacing it with a dental implant or a bridge.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

The area is fully numbed, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Some soreness afterwards is normal and is usually managed with regular pain relief.

How long does recovery take?

Most people feel better within a few days. Wisdom teeth removal may take a little longer. We will give you aftercare advice and are here if you have any concerns.
